Besiktas announced yesterday the departure of coach Sergen Yalçın. The 53-year-old coach leaves after a season that has been considered disappointing by the Turkish club's management and fans.
One of Yalçin's most controversial decisions was to pave the way for Ernest Muç to be loaned to Trabzonspor. After leaving Beşiktaş, the Albanian striker managed to show his potential and stand out with positive performances, which has increased criticism of the former coach.
Some fans attribute responsibility for Muç's departure to Yalçın, believing that the footballer was not properly appreciated during his time at Beşiktaş.
On the other hand, the coach had decided to bring in Albanian midfielder Kristjan Asllani from Inter on loan in the winter transfer window. However, the team's results did not meet expectations, while fourth place in the championship was considered a failure for the club's objectives.
