Rolando Maran is officially the new coach of the Albanian national team. The Italian technician takes the place of Silvinjo, who left after more than three years on the red and black bench.
The 62-year-old's appointment marks his first experience outside of Italian football, a desire that the coach himself had publicly expressed since the end of 2023, during the period when he was managing Brescia.
" What's missing? Europe. I would like to have an experience abroad, to broaden my horizons. I had the opportunity a few years ago and recently I was called up by a national team. But I preferred to return to Brescia ," Maran said at the time.
According to "Panorama Sport", the Italian had long begun to consider an international adventure, and will now try himself in charge of the Albanian National Team.
Meanwhile, the latest interest in Maran came from Empoli. In March, his name was included among the candidates to take over the Italian team, with the objective of saving it from relegation to Serie C. However, the club decided to entrust Fabio Caserta, who managed to achieve the objective of survival.
