Ernest Merdanaj and Ibrahim Hidri gave other gold medals to Albania in taekwondo.
In the Balkan Championship held in Romania, with the participation of about 460 athletes, Ernest Merdanaj excelled in all 3 of his matches in the weight up to 58 kilograms.
First against the opponent from Serbia, then against the athlete from Turkey and in the final he defeated the athlete from Kosovo, being crowned with the title of Champion of the Balkans.
Based on accumulated points and high-level matches, Ernest Merdanaj was declared the best athlete of the event.
In the age group, Albania also won gold medals in the Balkan Championship with Ibrahim Hidri, who dominated the junior category for weights -78 kg.
Albania's total balance in the Balkan Taekwondo Championship was 10 medals won: 2 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze.
