Footage of Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish Football Federation, kissing a Spanish soccer player on the lips after winning the World Cup, has gone viral. This has turned him into an object of criticism as many, including Spanish government ministers, have called for his resignation.
But one person who doesn't think so is world football legend Karl-Heinz Rumenige. The former football player and the well-known manager of Bayern Munich, now part of the management council of the Bavarian club and at the same time an advisor to UEFA, has stated today that he does not see such behavior as problematic.
" I don't think we should exaggerate this situation. When you are declared World Champion, you probably get excited. And what he did there, with all due respect, was absolutely OK. I remember when we won the Champions League last time, I went so far as to kiss men. Not on the edge, but in the midst of enthusiasm , "said Rumenige, who later admitted that he was friends with Rubiales.
