The betting scandal in Turkish football is deepening, reaching the highest levels, such as club presidents and directors, but what is more important is that the investigations into this scandal have also included sports commentators and lawyers, who are suspected of being involved in an organized betting network.
Turkish Court of Arbitration for Sport judge Emin Ozkurt told Spanish daily AS that these investigations are much deeper than one could imagine.
There is a very extensive and organized betting network that involves not only referees, but also club managers, football players, television commentators, and sports law specialists.
Complaints are expected to be filed with the Disciplinary Committee of the Turkish Football Federation next week, while according to a statement from the latter, 152 referees have already been sanctioned, 7 of whom are head referees and 15 high-level assistants.
