Albania will face Serbia on October 11th in Leskovac. Unlike what was initially decided for this match to be played in Belgrade, the Serbian Football Federation has decided to request a change of stadium, in order to make it easier to manage the fans.
In the press release itself, the Federation announced that one of the reasons for this decision is precisely the situation created in October 2014, when fans entered the field, leading to the interruption of the match and the loss on the table 0-3. However, for Albania this is not the first time that the match will be played in smaller stadiums, as a precautionary measure for the fans.
Serbia-Albania - Serbia has decided to change the stadium, due to the problems caused by Serbian fans in various matches. Recently, problems and racist chants were caused against England and also many banners with political messages were opened by the local fans, actions for which UEFA is also expected to have a decision, where it remains to be seen whether there will be a stadium closure or a fine.
Macedonia-Albania - In the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Albania won in Shkodra against Macedonia, while in the return match, the Macedonians decided not to play in Skopje. The great fear that there could be too many Albanian fans in the stadium caused the Macedonian Federation to send Albania to a small stadium, such as the one in Strumica with a capacity of 9,000 seats, unlike the Skopje stadium, which has a much larger capacity, reaching 33,000 seats. Despite the change of stadium, the Macedonians did not manage to enjoy victory as the match ended 1-1, with the equalizer for them coming just a few minutes before the end.
Greece-Albania - In 2001, Greece hosted Albania in a match valid for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers. At that time, Greece played its matches in Athens, at the Spiros Louis Olympic Stadium, but against Albania they decided to play in Crete, where the stadium was considerably smaller than the Athens stadium. Also, in addition to capacity, another reason was the fact that the stadium stands are very close to the pitch and something like that could cause the pressure of the fans to put pressure on the Albanian national team. That meeting between the two teams ended with Greece winning 2-0./Panorama Sport
