Bruno Petrone, the young footballer who previously played for Sorrento and now plays for Angri, a team that plays in the Echelenza championship, is fighting for his life after being stabbed overnight in Naples, in one of the alleys in Chiaia.
Corriere della Sera reports that the 18-year-old was sitting on his scooter, talking to a friend, with his back to the wheel, when he was approached by five people on two scooters and stabbed twice.
Immediately transported to the San Paolo Hospital in Fuorigrotta, he underwent emergency surgery including removal of his spleen and is admitted to the intensive care unit with a cautious prognosis.
Investigations began immediately, but yesterday afternoon a 15-year-old turned himself in and a short time later, four other 17-year-olds joined him. Four of them were arrested and a fifth was charged and released.
The motive for the attack is yet to be determined, although the manner of the attack revealed in the video suggests some kind of punitive raid against the footballer.
