When coach Carlo Ancelotti announced the Brazil national team roster and mentioned Weverton's name, celebrations erupted at the Brazilian goalkeeper's home. The intense emotions proved too much for the 37-year-old, who briefly fainted during the celebrations with family and friends.
The event was recorded by security cameras in his apartment and was then published on social media by the player himself, who treated the episode with humor.
In the shared video, the moment is seen when Veverton's relatives celebrate with shouts and hugs after learning the news of his collection with the "Selecao". The goalkeeper, who will be Ancelotti's third choice after Alisson Becker and Ederson, joins in the celebration between hugs and jumping on the sofa.
A few seconds later, Weverton fell face down on the sofa and then slid to the floor, while those present initially did not realize that he had lost consciousness, continuing the party next to him.
According to Brazilian media, the goalkeeper recovered immediately after help from family members and did not need medical treatment or transport to the hospital.
Later, at a press conference, Weverton commented on the episode jokingly:
" I believe I had a slight loss of feeling ," he declared, smiling.
While publishing the video on social media, the goalkeeper added an ironic caption:
" From my home cameras to you... enjoy in moderation, because this video has many levels ."
Veverton is not a new name for the Brazilian national team. He has been part of Brazil in the past, winning the Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016, as well as the silver medal in the Copa America in 2021.
The new squad under Carlo Ancelotti represents another important moment in the goalkeeper's career, who aims to make his contribution both in training and if he is called upon to play during the competition.
