"140,000 backlog cases", Bumçi attacks the Justice Reform: You

The former minister of DP, Aldo Bumçi, has stated that justice in Albania has suffered a great decline in all aspects, after the launch of the Reform.

Bumçi made his comments on the 'Off the Record' show with journalist Andrea Danglili on A2 CNN, where he said that there are about 140,000 backlogged cases in the courts today.

Taking as an example a pensioner whose retirement years are not known, he said that the elderly in Albania die before the court's decision on his case is issued.

"Where are we today? From 2015, according to the study, Albania has a deterioration in all areas of justice. Today, there are over 140,000 backlog cases, which are increasing year by year. There is 30% more last year than 2 years ago.

This is an incalculable damage to the citizens, because if your property is taken, or an unjust fine is imposed, you will go to court. But the courts where you go have about 60,000 first and second instance cases. Pensions, we take the simplest thing. The years are not known. You have passed away when the court decision comes. Your business has bankrupted you" , said Bumçi.
