The Police Surveillance Agency (Durrës-Kavajë Region), after intensive investigations carried out in cooperation with the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), has arrested in the act the police officer, Chief Commissioner Gazmir Preçi, as Head of the Sector against Traffic and Narcotics in the Durrës Local Police Directorate, suspected of the criminal offense "Abuse of duty" and "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions".
His arrest was made possible, after investigations conducted under the direction of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime, applying special methods, as a result of which evidence and facts were provided that this police officer, using the organic function, asked for 20 thousand euros and received the amount of 10 thousand euros in the first stage, through blackmail for blocking the business activity of a citizen, owner of a bar in the city of Durrës.
At the end of the actions, a monetary value of 10,000 euros, documents related to the event and two mobile telephones were seized as material evidence.
Investigations continue for complete documentation with legal evidence, as well as the identification of other possible employees involved in this event.
