Journalist Artan Hoxha, speaking about the investigations being carried out by SPAK regarding the CEZ-DIA case, about which Ilir Meta was also asked, stated that there is a series of evidence for the former president on this issue.
In an interview for the show "Te Paespozuarit", Hoxha said that there is some evidence and testimony about Meta's connections with Kastriot Ismailaj, who served an 11-year prison sentence for abuses with DIA, the company that collected the debts of institutions and citizens towards CEZ .
According to him, this whole issue shows a misuse of public money, which amounts to 600 million euros.
" This is one of the issues that has been going on for a decade and we have constantly asked for it to be investigated. Both political parties have accused each other of an embezzlement amounting to 600 million euros. It is a story that has also had a parliamentary investigative commission. So far it turns out to be the case with the greatest financial damage.This is a great story of abuse of power and corruption, which seems to me to involve all parties.
From the moment when OSHE was privatized and it was called CEZ. At the moment when CEZ was in difficulty to collect obligations to institutions and citizens, DIA agreed to do so. The third part is the moment when it was renegotiated, when the Berisha-Meta coalition was no longer in power but Rama-Meta. All three of these maneuvers carried out by the Albanian state should be investigated, they have never been investigated so far.
So far, the only person convicted is Kastriot Ismailaj, who served 11 years in prison, 5 million euros were confiscated, and his mother's pension was also confiscated. It is currently outside the territory of Albania. There were several attempts by SPAK to make him an associate of justice. Meta's claim that this case has been tried several times is not true.
The first report that was made about the history of CEZ-DIA was about Berisha, Ruli and some functionaries, this has been dismissed. The second report was for Meta, Berisha and others. These happened in 2016-2017. It was prosecutor Llalla and these were dismissed.
The current report is file 55, followed directly by Mr. Altin Dumani. It started in July 2019.
In this file, Meta has been accused because in 2009, when the negotiations for the privatization of OSHE were made, he influenced through our ambassador in Prague, in the capacity of Foreign Minister, he is accused of using his position to negotiate the collection of the debts of Albanian citizens, the DIA company would do it. It has proven that this is a man with strong connections and has the infrastructure to do this.
DIA received 1.5 million euros, without the agreement being signed yet.
The prosecution has evidence, videos, testimonies, trips of Kastriot Ismailaj with Meta. It is even a decision that favored CEZ, which gave it the opportunity to earn over 30 million euros. By affecting ERT, the price of energy has been changed, it has been reduced by almost 30% ", said Hoxha, among other things.
