Artan Hoxha has given details of the police operation with the support of international partners, for the capture of high-level persons involved in drug trafficking.
In an interview for "The Unexposed", Hoxha said that the operation started in August, but the suspected bosses of the criminal groups have not been caught and are not in Albania.
According to the investigative journalist, the operation was started by the DEA and then Frontex and the Guardia di Finanza were also involved. This happened because there are suspicions that it was about the trafficking of 2.5 tons of cocaine.
"On August 15 of this year, an operation was carried out in the open sea, an international operation. What was done today is a continuation of the operation of August 15. This operation was initiated by the American DEA.
Frontex and Guardia di Finanza helicopters were involved from the air in the operation. Three vessels have followed so far. It is about a sailing ship in which two Ukrainians were traveling. They had come from Turkey in the direction of Montenegro and were crossing the Albanian coast. From the coast of Albania towards them, a large raft and after it a smaller raft have started. The operation has been under investigation.
RENEA went to a bar in the Patok lagoon, owned by Gëzim Çela's relatives. The idea was to hit the base on land and the narcotics at sea.
