A house turned into a weapons depot was discovered on the morning of March 7 in the village of Babicë in Vlora.
The RENEA forces and the Police of Vlora searched the apartment yesterday, discovering a weapons base, while during the action 35-year-old Luciano (Albano) Deraj was arrested, who is suspected of being connected to criminal groups.
The two-story apartment is monitored by security cameras. Apart from the 35-year-old, his stepmother and father, as well as his grandparents, lived in the apartment.
Off camera, the family members say they were shocked to see so many policemen in the apartment. They say that the boy was arrested at the workplace and then taken to the apartment in handcuffs, where a detailed search was also carried out. The 35-year-old is the owner of a car service.
In the apartment were found several types of weapons, sniper rifle, pistols, hundreds of cartridges, 7 molds of plastic explosives, silencers for weapons, 4 optical binoculars, 2 pairs of binoculars, Vlora Police Directorate radio receivers, license plates and car keys, masks, fennel and various clothing. The base of weapons is suspected to have been used or would be used for serious criminal events.
Seized weapons and equipment will be subjected to a technical, biological and ballistic expertise, to trace the other persons involved and to verify if the firearms were used in any criminal event.
