Journalist Piro Nase has been threatened. The incident took place in Gjirokastër, and the Albanian branch of the Association of European Journalists has also reacted to this.
The statement of this association states that it strongly condemns the serious act of threat against journalist Piro Nase by activist Jeton Muxhaj in Gjirokastra, an event that constitutes an open attack on free speech and the right of citizens to be informed.
" Journalist Nase, known for his integrity in reporting, has faced a serious threat while performing his duty, an unacceptable act in a democratic society. A threat to a journalist is a threat to the entire media community and freedom of expression in the country."
We call on the competent authorities to react immediately, to seriously investigate this incident and to bring the perpetrator of the threat to justice. The protection of journalists is an institutional obligation and the foundation of the functioning of a legal state.
"AEJ expresses its full solidarity with colleague Piro Nase and recalls that no one should feel endangered because of their work as a journalist ," the statement said.
