The mayor of Kamza, Rakip Suli, is expected to go to the Special Prosecutor's Office today at 11:00 a.m. to give explanations regarding an investigation into the earthquake compensation.
On September 11, a report was filed against the socialist mayor by the residents of Kamza for violations and corruption.
The prosecution is conducting investigations against Suli and other officials for several criminal offenses, such as:
"Exercise of illegal influence on persons exercising public functions", "Abuse of duty", "Violation of equality of participants in public tenders or auctions" and "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions".
In the framework of this case, after SPAK has seized all the procedures followed by the officials, it has also called Mr. Suli to give explanations.
SPAK has placed under investigation the mayors of Kamza Rakip Suli and Rrogozhina Edison Memolla, after the denunciations that suspect both officials of abusing the tenders for the cleaning of the city, but also of having signed compensations for the damage to the houses from the earthquake. Memolla appeared a few days ago at SPAK.
The Special Prosecutor's Office has ordered the seizure of documents on the procedure followed for tenders and compensations.
Several mayors and former mayors ended up being defendants during this year, especially for tenders, as denounced not only by the KLSH, but also referred by the ordinary prosecutors who transferred the competence to SPAK.
The complaint was filed by the lawyer Adriana Kalaja, who in a statement to the media also listed the reasons.
