Education expert's alarm: The knife has replaced the book, parents do not
Ndricim Mehmeti

On Youth Day, education expert Ndriçim Mehmeti expressed deep concern about the increase in violence among young people and the failure of institutions to protect and educate the rising generation.

Referring to recent tragic events where young people have lost their lives, Mehmeti emphasized that the problem starts in the family, where parents often do not take responsibility for their children's behavior, and even go so far as to justify it.

According to him, many parents do not understand that "protecting the child" does not mean justifying crime, but intervening to prevent mistakes and deviations.

"Every parent has a duty to protect their child, but not their crimes. Often, not only is the child's behavior being justified, but the parent's own lack of education is being justified," he said during a conversation on "Our Day" on A2 CNN.

He denounced the fact that in many cases no one checks what young people take with them to school anymore.

"How has the knife replaced the book? How did this time come when the knife replaced the book? We rose with the idea of making Albania like the rest of Europe on December 8. We did not rise to make Albania like the most unsafe countries in the world. Today we are the most unsafe country in the world for children. Today is December 8, Youth Day, there are celebrations, there are decorations. But today we must protest. It is a sin to celebrate, it is even a crime to celebrate. What are we celebrating? Disability?", he said.
