"We have nothing to negotiate", activist: Protests will continue until

The civic protest has entered its 35th day. Activist Arilda Lleshi accused the State Police of unjustified use of force against the protesters and said that, according to her, the intervention was intended to intimidate citizens.

She emphasized that the protesters will return to the Assembly in every parliamentary session and that their demands remain unchanged.

"The police definitely want to intimidate us. The violence was initiated by the police and, apart from the eggs, there were no elements of violence initiated by us that would have pushed the police to behave in that way. We have seen several cases where people, after they had left and posed no danger to the police, were hit by them. So, the police violence was disproportionate and, in some cases, inhumane," said the activist.

Lleshi said that the movement will not back down from its political demands, describing them as non-negotiable.

"Absolutely, we will defend until the end the political statement we have issued and these are our demands: the non-negotiable resignation of the government, the creation of a transitional government, constitutional changes regarding the electoral law, the establishment of a term limit, as well as the repeal of the Law on Strategic Investments and the legal changes made in 2024 to the Law on Protected Areas," she said.

While commenting on Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements about the influence of foreign factors on the protest, the activist described them as unfounded.

"I think they're becoming ridiculous. It's ridiculous for a prime minister to talk about conspiracy theories... At the moment when everything remains at the level of unproven accusations, we're dealing with conspiracy theories," the activist added.

Regarding the possibility of dialogue with the government, Lleshi said that the protest has nothing to negotiate with the prime minister.

"We have said it since the third day of the protest... we have nothing to negotiate. We demand his resignation... We have already lost faith in this government... We think that they are not there in the interest of our nation and, for this reason, they should leave," the activist concluded.
