The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, during his official visit to Brussels at the European Policy Center, spoke about the difficulties in working at SPAK since its creation 6 years ago. Dumani says that the development of SPAK as a model institution of justice reform in Albania, built on independence, professionalism, institutional sustainability, international cooperation and public trust.
However, Dumani also mentioned pressures from politics, the media, or crime as difficulties.
"The difficulties have been numerous. We will be 6 years old in December. The main difficulties had to do with the organization of the institutions. Another difficulty was the great pressure we were under, from the public demanding results, since SPAK was seen, since its creation, as a hope for the functioning of the institutions and for ending impunity.
While expectations were high, our real possibilities were limited.
Another difficulty was managing the various pressures and threats that came towards the prosecution and special prosecutors, from politics, from the media, but especially from organized crime.
However, SPAK prosecutors have experience and are prepared to face these pressures, regardless of where they come from. Each one has an admirable experience and are professionally mature,” said Dumani.
