The Criminal Amnesty has been published in the Official Gazette and will start its implementation after a week, since April 24th will be 15 days from the publication in the Gazette.
From the amnesty, women and minors benefit from a reduction of 2 years from the remaining sentence and one and a half years from the remaining sentence for convicted men.
But the amnesty has clearly defined, putting an end to the political debate in the Assembly, that persons sentenced to life imprisonment do not benefit from this law's reduction of sentence; convicted persons, the criminal charges against which have been judged by the Court against Corruption and Organized Crime.
Persons who have committed murders under qualifying circumstances or murders of State Police employees do not benefit from a tax point of view.
Amnesty, as defined by law, was guided by a) the principle of humanity; b) achieving the goal of punishment; c) the low dangerousness of the persons who are amnestied; ç) education and rehabilitation; d) protection of public interest; dh) providing the possibility of easier and faster integration of juvenile and female convicts; and protection of the best interest of the child.
