The Archbishop of Tirana and Durrës, Arjan Dodaj, gave a strong political message today in his Easter greetings.
Dodaj stated that we must make the change and not wait for it from outside and added that today there is a need for a responsive conscience towards corruption and he addressed this message to politicians, but also to other figures who hold economic and social responsibilities in the country.
"Our country should not expect that justice or the future will come to us from outside. Is it as if foreigners have a duty to love Albania and Albanians more? Just as Christ did not remain in the tomb, but opened a new path beyond death, for us there is no situation without hope. Each of us can address ourselves with the words of Mother Teresa the Great: be the change you expect and you will see in Albania. Therefore, today it is essential not to surrender in the face of evil, but to sow concrete hope. ", said Archbishop Arjan Dodaj.
Dodaj also made an appeal to politics and institutions, for more honesty and responsibility in running the country.
"Albania needs honest men and women who love this land and its people not with words, but with lives lived here, it needs a responsive conscience that does not accept corruption, injustice and exclusion as something normal. This is a blessing for everyone and even more so for those who bear political, economic and social responsibilities to see the future of the country with foresight and responsibility," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, this evening Catholic believers participate in the vigil mass at the "St. Paul's" Cathedral in Tirana, which begins at 9:45 PM and lasts until the early hours of the morning, culminating with the proclamation "Christ is risen."
Since morning, believers have been heading to churches for the blessing of food, an ancient Easter tradition that symbolizes the blessing of the family through the table.
Preparations for the holiday have begun days ago and they joyfully await the announcement of the news that Christ is risen. As they talk about the symbolism of the Easter holiday, Christian believers address their prayers for health, peace, and prosperity in the family.
Blessing food is an ancient tradition for this holiday, as it requires the blessing of the entire family through food. Easter is celebrated by Catholic believers as the resurrection of Christ, with preparation beginning with the 7 weeks of Lent or fasting.
