Today at 16:00 in front of the prime minister's office, a protest against the arrest of former KLA fighter Dritan Goxhaj has been announced.
The protest called by the group "Eagle Wing" demands the release of the former KLA fighter and his non-extradition to The Hague, in the Specialized Chambers.
Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31 by the Tirana Police, on behalf of the Special Court of Kosovo, with offices in The Hague.
He is charged with two charges of "Intimidation during criminal proceedings" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of his duties". Goxhaj's lawyer, Bashkim Nikolla, described the arrest of his client as a politically motivated decision, adding that he is innocent.
Lieutenant Dritan Goxhaj, a pilot at the Vlorë Aviation School, joined the KLA in March 1999. He is the son of soldier Dilaver Goxhaj, who voluntarily joined the KLA and was entrusted with the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of KLA. Dritan Goxhaj, KLA fighter, Albanian soldier, intellectual and free speech journalist, was arrested on July 31 by the Albanian State Police, referring to the Letter-Order of the Kosovo Special Court.
This is the first case of the arrest of an Albanian citizen by order of the Specialized Chambers operating in The Hague with the laws of Kosovo. Dritan Goxhaj, a KLA fighter, is accused of: "Intimidation during the criminal procedure" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of official duties". These absurd accusations were raised after his writing as a free journalist "Memedheu, the KLA and the special court" Stand in solidarity in support of the KLA fighter and free speech Dritan Goxhaj.
