A tragic accident occurred this Monday morning on the Librazhd-Elbasan highway, in the Mengli area, near a school. A vehicle driven by a 61-year-old man hit a 7-year-old child, who died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
According to residents' testimonies, the vehicle involved in the incident was suspected of being moving at high speed, despite the driver's claims that he was traveling at around 10 km/h.
After the accident, local residents immediately intervened to remove the child from the vehicle involved in the incident.
"The driver said he was on a national road. 'I have my right. I was going 10 km per hour,' the driver said. Another serious incident has occurred on this road. The road has become very dangerous in this neighborhood," said a resident of the area.
While a resident said: "They saw that it was at maximum speed. Even though it said it was at 10 km/h. All the men from the bar came, they started the car and took the child out. They called the ambulance, but it didn't come. They took him in random cars and took him to the hospital. The ambulance arrived 15 minutes after the child was taken to the hospital. The road is very dangerous. There are many accidents."
The tragic accident occurred in front of the child's mother. The 7-year-old was separated from his mother's hand when he tried to cross the road, and was then hit by a vehicle that was moving on the road. The driver of the vehicle is a 61-year-old man with the initials PB, who was accompanied by officers.
