The Prime Minister arrived at the NATO Summit on a private VistaJet plane, while anti-government protests continue in Tirana.
As Albania enters the 38th day of protests against corruption and Edi Rama's government, the prime minister has chosen to travel to Turkey on a luxury charter to attend the NATO Summit.
Footage released by the Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency shows Rama landing at Ankara's Esenboğa Airport from a private plane of the international company VistaJet, accompanied by his wife, Linda Rama. The Albanian delegation was received by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.

The contrast is stark. In Tirana, thousands of citizens have been protesting against corruption and the government for more than a month, while the prime minister travels with one of the most luxurious private aviation companies in the world.
VistaJet is one of the most exclusive charter flight operators, used by heads of state, billionaires and executives of international corporations. Its fleet consists of high-class Bombardier Challenger and Bombardier Global business jets, while just a private flight on the Tirana-Ankara route costs tens of thousands of dollars, not including airport fees and additional services.

It is not the first time that Rama's travel habits have sparked controversy. For years, he used Air Albania planes for official visits, under an agreement that was never made public in detail. After the company's collapse, the prime minister has been seen using private charters for international travel.
Ironically, the same company, VistaJet, became the subject of controversy in the UK last year. Former British Foreign Secretary David Cameron was heavily criticized after flying a private jet from this company to Albania, on a visit that lasted only 89 minutes due to the announcement of early elections in Britain. British media mocked him with headlines like "60 thousand pounds for 89 minutes", calling the trip a waste of public money.

While in Ankara Rama participates in the NATO Summit and holds meetings with the Alliance's leaders, in Albania the protests continue and have entered their sixth week, making the luxury charter trip yet another element of the political debate. / Pamphlet
