Journalist Eni Ferahti brought new details regarding the news that the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, will appear before SPAK on Friday, after being summoned as part of the investigations into the January 21 case.
Speaking on the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, Ferhati said that it is not known whether there is new evidence or not for January 21, but the file is already in the hands of SPAK.
According to the journalist, it is not news that Berisha will appear before SPAK since he has already crossed the threshold of this institution and for the 'Partizani' issue.
Ferhati says that Berisha was summoned in the capacity of a person who has knowledge of the event.
" In 2024, SPAK did not want to take this file, but wanted the file to continue in the Tirana Prosecutor's Office. But it was a decision of the Supreme Court, influenced by Strasbourg, which qualified January 21 as a state crime. Currently, there is no suspect, either as an orderer, an executor, or an assistant. This file has been registered for three offenses: murder in qualifying circumstances, abuse of office and offenses that hinder the disclosure of the truth ," said the journalist.
Mr. Berisha will be present on Friday, while he is the second former official to be questioned on January 21. Former MPs and former officials have previously been questioned, including former DP leader Basha, who was the last to be questioned.
Initially, the organizers of the rally gave statements: former MPs Cuko, Bare, Tahiri, Asllan Dogjani, who was a SP MP at the time, and then other former officials.
Of course, other former high-ranking officials, such as the former president or the former prosecutor, could also be questioned.
Ndrea Prendi or former guard Llupo, who were convicted for this event in another trial, have not yet been questioned.
