Albania's decision to grant 5 days leave to Beler was not reached easily, but was the product of Greek and European pressures

If everything goes according to plan, next Monday, shortly after 12:30 p.m., Fredi Beleri will make his first statement as the elected MEP of the DP before the cameras of the television stations, in the "Eleftherios Venizelos" reception hall. , before flying to Strasbourg, where she will be sworn in as an MEP and then vote for a second term for Ursula von der Leyen.

Albania's decision to grant 5 days leave to Beler was not reached easily, but was the product of Greek and European pressures.

The message was clear: it is unthinkable for an elected MEP not to be sworn in in Strasbourg after taking office, especially when it is held in an EU acceding state.

After all, serving the sentence imposed by the Court of Appeal, Beleri will be released from prison in the fall anyway, so Albania has no benefit to insist on his detention.

According to "Protothema.gr" there has been intense intervention from the Greek side even at the highest level of the government, but also from the leaders of the Foreign Ministry, George Gerapetritis and Alexandra Papadopoulou.

According to information, there was no meeting between Mitsotakis and Rama at the NATO Summit in Washington.

Aides to the prime minister said that after the last European Council, Mitsotakis had expressed his optimism that Beleri would eventually be given permission to take the oath. According to the same information, the processes for granting the license have been intensified in recent days, while this development seems to have been sealed in a short meeting held on the sidelines of the NATO Summit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis, with his Albanian counterpart. of Ili Hassan, who apparently had the political authorization of Edi Rama.

Of course, despite the fact that Beleri has been dismissed from the post of the mayor of Himara, Athens has set its sights on the upcoming mayoral elections on August 4./ Adapted "Pamphlet", taken from "Protothema"
