Bushati-Alemanno: "Good Lobby" and the EP elections; how they are

Ditmir Bushati in his Public Square podcast discusses with Alberto Alemanno, professor at the prestigious business school in Paris (HEC), legal expert and founder of the "Good Lobby" initiative.

Bushati and Alemanno discuss important topics from the expectations around the elections to the European Parliament but also how you can make a difference and change in public policies through participation, through what is called "good lobbying"?

Or how can you gather together a group of people, who have the will to change policy-making but also expertise at the national level or even at the pan-European level?

Alemanno says that the elections for the European Parliament are considered by the citizens as second-rate elections, which means, according to him, that they are not the most important elections in their minds.

He states that they do not necessarily reflect the political preferences of voters, adding that there is a limited participation of voters between 45-50%.

Alemanno even considers it as a parallel process happening simultaneously in 27 countries.

He says that the EP is dominated by several political groups, while he points out that for the first time it may happen that extreme right-wing political groups or populists have a large weight.

According to him, this can influence the change of the agenda, due to the dominance it will have in the European Parliament.
