Celibashi forgets the mistakes with electronic voting and the diaspora vote,

The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Ilirjan Celibashi, has 'sold' the OSCE/ODIHR final report on the May 11 parliamentary elections as an important document for strengthening electoral integrity in the country.

In a reaction to X, Celibashi emphasized that the ODIHR report should serve as a guide for all political and institutional actors.

" It will be a sign of seriousness and institutional and political responsibility of all actors related to the electoral process to work on the findings and recommendations of the ODIHR Final Report on the May 11 elections, as a complete picture of these elections," Celibashi writes.

With this reaction, Celibashi is trying to downplay the mistakes with electronic voting and the diaspora vote that resulted in a failure.

Although electronic voting was claimed to produce results within a few hours, it actually produced them the next day.

Furthermore, it should be said that we are the only country where elections were held in May and the results were certified in September.

Celibashi also focused on the necessity of electoral reform, as he called for a concrete commitment from political forces, especially parliamentary ones, to complete a deep and significant reform within a one-year period.

Full reaction:

It will be a sign of seriousness and institutional and political responsibility of all actors related to the electoral process to work on the findings and recommendations of the ODIHR Final Report on the May 11 elections, as a complete picture of these elections. Judgments and assessments on the judgments and assessments of the “election judges” are of no use. Political parties, especially parliamentary ones, must commit to completing a meaningful electoral reform within a year. Regarding the CEC: The positive assessments of almost everything that this institution did in relation to the preparation and administration of these elections are an impetus to do even better what needs to be done.
