8000 surveyors will knock door to door throughout the territory of the Republic of Albania to question all citizens of Albania.
Starting from this process, a call came from the Albanian Muslim Community, which has asked its community to declare its religious affiliation.
"Call. Dear believers, practitioners or not. Tomorrow, September 18, 2023, the Census, Population and Housing Registration of all Albanians will start in all of Albania. This is a very important process, as the religious affiliation of each individual will also be declared in it. Although this part is left "optional declaration", the Muslim Community of Albania kindly calls on all believers, whether practicing or not, to declare their religious affiliation by answering the question, 'what is the religion or belief you follow or belong to ', write: "Muslim". Proudly state your faith and make sure the recorder records it correctly on the electronic board as you state it. The call is not for numbers, it is for the pride and dignity of everyone's faith", says the KMSH appeal.
The Orthodox Church of Albania also had a call. The form will be completed electronically through a tablet and is ready. It contains 8 modules, which aim to enable the creation of a complete panorama of the social, economic and demographic situation of the Albanian population.
“Ethnicity, Language, Religion”, are the only three questions on the form that are not mandatory to answer…etc. The field data collection process will last six weeks and close on October 28. The census will release the first results in April 2024, while the final results will be in September 2024. The census was supposed to take place in 2020, but due to the pandemic and other issues, it was extended by three years. The last census was conducted in 2011, which showed that the population was 2,821,977, a decrease of 8%, from the 2001 Census.
