The US Department of State has confirmed the visit of US Secretary Antony Blinken to Tirana. Blinken will visit Europe from February 14 to 17 and is expected to stop in Tirana and Munich.
It has been talked about for days that the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, would visit Albania, but nothing was officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, today, the US Department of State has confirmed the first visit of US Secretary Antony Blinken to Tirana. It is learned that Blinken will visit Europe from February 14 to 17 and is expected to stop in Tirana and Munich.
In a response to the media, DASH announced that in Tirana, the US Secretary of State is expected to reaffirm the strong ties of the US-Albania partnership, but did not provide other details of his visit to our country.
According to the announcement, Blinken will visit Albania, "a key partner for stability in the Western Balkans" and aims to bring Washington's ties with Tirana closer together.
While in Germany, he will participate in the Munich Security Conference, where he will discuss Ukraine, the Middle East and transatlantic security, DASH announced.
Blinken's attendance at the Munich conference comes after he completed his fifth tour of the Middle East to try to push forward a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian group designated a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union.
Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will travel to Tirana, Albania, and Munich, Germany, from February 14-17. In Tirana, Secretary Blinken will reaffirm the close relationship of the United States with Albania, a key partner for stability in Western Balkans and a strong ally in supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In Munich, Secretary Blinken will attend the Munich Security Conference as part of the US delegation led by Vice President Kamala Harris. The Secretary will hold bilateral meetings to underscore the United States' continued support for the people of Ukraine, continue discussions with partners on how to achieve lasting peace and security in the Middle East, and underscore our unwavering commitment to transatlantic security. Secretary Blinken will also join international partners in a public forum on multilateralism ," DASH's response said.
But such a visit by such a high-ranking American official cannot be only within the framework of the reaffirmation of the US-Albania partnership.
That being said, the question arises: Why will Blinken actually come to our country?
History has shown that whenever dignitaries of such a high level arrive in Tirana, something else is hidden.
In 2012, Hillary Clinton came to Tirana. At that time she was also State Secretary and was received with many honors by the "Berisha" government. Although it was sold as a pro-government visit, it was actually hiding something else: the Iranian Mujahideen. During her visit, it was agreed that Albania would host some of the Iranian Mujahideen, and initially 300 were agreed upon.
In February 2016, John Kerry came to Tirana. Even he in the capacity of Secretary of State. Although the purpose of the visit was kept secret, it later emerged that it was about the Mujahideen. Rama gave the word for the shelter of all mujahedin and brought 3 thousand people to our country.
