Journalist Lavdrim Lita stated that the justice reform, constitutional changes and the establishment of new institutions of the system are the result of political decision-making and the vote of 140 deputies in the Assembly. Invited to A2 CNN, he stated that the same deputies who approved the reform today, according to him, feel threatened by the actions of SPAK.
" I did not change the Constitution that introduced a foreign meat like UMN into the Constitution of Albania. I did not make 140 deputies vote to establish justice institutions. I did not make the reform. Those who should be held responsible are those who today are wearing 'iron pants' out of fear of SPAK that is biting them and is coming to their bed. Many of them sleep with the light on and clothes on, because they are afraid ," said Lita.
Lita stressed that the justice reform has had its problems, especially in the vetting process. According to him, there have been cases of unfair dismissals from the system, but also cases where judges and prosecutors have been rightfully excluded due to property problems.
" The justice reform has problems. There have been problems with the vetting system. There are people who have been unjustly removed from the system. But there are also those who deserved to leave, because they sold justice and did not know how much wealth they had invested and where their houses were. Starting with the President of the Constitutional Court, who left the system because he did not know how he got that apartment ," he declared.
According to Lita, despite the problems, the establishment of SPAK and the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) has brought about a noticeable change in the handling of cases related to high-level officials.
The journalist stated that without SPAK, GJKKO, and the GJKKO Appeal, there would be no arrest or isolation measures for former presidents, former ministers, mayors, and other senior officials.
" Without this SPAK, without this GJKKO and without the GJKKO appeal, we would not have isolation or arrest measures for former presidents of the republic, mayors, former ministers, high-ranking officials, who previously said 'bye-bye' to prosecutors and judges. Some of them ate lunch and dinner in the center of Tirana, challenging the justice and morality of society ," said Lita.
He added that today the situation has changed thanks to investigations and crackdowns by SPAK, while for every problem within institutions there are supervisory mechanisms, such as the High Inspector of Justice (ILD), that monitor their functioning.
