In today's session at GJKKO on the 'Gërdeci' case, there were debates regarding the questioning of 5 American citizens for whom a letter was also sent to the USA.
The prosecutors of SPAK asked that their question be done through letters, since according to them, the question through video-conference was difficult, for technical reasons, but also because of the time difference between the two countries. On the other hand, Mediu's lawyers, as well as the lawyer of the victims' families, asked questions through the video conference. According to the lawyers, only in this way the questioning of the witnesses would be exhaustive.
The only witness presented at the hearing, as a co-defendant in a related proceeding, was Dashnor Caushi, accused in the first trial of the "Gërdeci" file.
The former member of the ammunition classification commission did not consent to testify. While in a testimony given during the investigation in 2008, which was administered by the court, Caushi stated that the minister had asked him what had happened.
"The Minister of Defense also called me to ask me what happened with the order for the transfer of ammunition to the Meico company", said Caushi.
