The son of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano, Sokol Nano, has given a farewell speech in honor of his father.
In his speech, Sokoli said that his father left this world, but only physically. He said that he will be remembered as a father, but also as a rare statesman who put his homeland before himself.
"I am touched by the attention, the care that I have felt for my father. I am grateful for the kind words and the phone calls from all over the world for his memory. My family has been connected by fate to the Albanian people and we have felt the support.
Today is a different day. Today Fatos Nano left this world, but only physically. My father was the first to talk to me about democracy, the first to not be afraid of losing. He taught me the true competition. He was a very dimensional man. He loved freedom as a spirit, not as a slogan. He built bridges, not walls. He was gentle and tolerant. Thank you champion for your courage, stubbornness and heart. We will remember him as a father, friend and statesman who put the homeland before himself", said Sokol Nano.
