Residents of the villages of Luz and Gramëz have once again gone on strike, demanding solutions to the dilapidated condition of the road that connects their area to the main roads.
This morning, they blocked traffic for about an hour, stopping dozens of trailers and heavy vehicles passing through this segment. According to residents, the road is in a poor condition and poses a serious risk to their safety.
Also present at the protest was the representative of the Democratic Party, Aulon Kalaja, who expressed support for the community's demands.
Residents signed a petition addressed to the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH), through which they request official information on the institutional responsibility for the road, the start of reconstruction, and the concrete deadlines for the intervention.
"Today, residents have signed a petition prepared by lawyers and road engineers. The petition will be sent to the Albanian Road and Highway Authority for an official response regarding this road," said Kalaja, among other things.
Residents emphasize that complaints about the rehabilitation of the road have been made several times, but according to them, there has been no reaction from the responsible institutions.
"We have complained several times about this road being paved, but they have neglected us. We want the road to be repaired as it was before or we will block trucks. There is no reaction from either the Municipality or those in Tirana," said a resident of the village of Luz.
"This is the sixth time we have come out, the protest will continue until we receive an answer," said another resident.
Residents warn that the protests will continue until an official response is received and concrete work begins on the road rehabilitation.
