Journalist Artan Hoxha said today that it is problematic and worrying that Albania is an attractive country for characters involved in large-scale affairs and scandals, such as the "Epstein" dossier.
Invited to Syri TV, Hoxha explained that the withdrawal of these figures is related to the function that Albania plays in money laundering and in the discharge of various lobbies and interests.
According to him, such persons act as intermediaries who provide services for political and economic interests, taking advantage of the lack of effective control.
He stressed that this phenomenon is not isolated and cannot be easily avoided, as these actors circulate globally. Hoxha noted that various countries that have accepted their presence often have dictatorial or semi-autocratic systems, such as some Central Asian and Caucasian states.
According to the journalist, these people choose countries with weak institutions, where they can circulate large amounts of money without major legal obstacles. In this context, he underlined that the problem does not lie in their existence, but in the fact that Albania appears as an attractive destination for them.
"I think that more than these international 'brokers', they are willing to offer you the opportunity to use them as a lobbying and interest-based outlet. They are also in the role of cleaners."
If you look, the countries that move with these very important characters for global politics at certain moments are either dictatorial or semi-autocratic, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, etc.
They find third world countries, where of course, these large sums can be paid without any hassle for them. That's why I say that we don't care much about what these types of characters do, because they are in the circle even if we don't want them to. Our problem and misfortune is that, how is it possible, that a country like ours with very limited resources, becomes so inquisitive for these types of characters", - said Hoxha.
