At least 7 people are expected to testify in the hearing against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi, as part of their trial at the GJKKO, regarding the affair with the former Partizani club.
The witnesses called are part of the list requested by SPAK, which accuses former Prime Minister Berisha of passive corruption, and his son-in-law of active corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
The session, which is expected to start at 1:00 PM, is the second with the questioning of witnesses, while on April 30, Taulant Balla, head of the SP Parliamentary Group, gave his testimony.
The list of witnesses summoned by SPAK for today's session, as well as those to come, include former Presidents of Partizani Sports Club, Albert Xhani and Paro Laçi, as well as former directors Isa Tare, Bujar Labinoti and Afrim Tole.
The SPAK file states that the former director of the years 1995-2005, Isa Tare, testified that he was promised an apartment if he did not oppose privatization. In SPAK, former President Paro Laçi also said that he was offered a bargain by Berisha's people to vacate the club's premises. Meanwhile, Afrim Tole, director of the Partizani Multi-Sports Club, in the years 2006-2008 provided SPAK investigators with an overview of all the properties that the club owned "de facto" and "de jure".
The other two witnesses called by SPAK are Dhurata Çela, the former director of the Property Agency for Tirana, and Petrit Kullolli, a surveyor.
According to SPAK, the file of the former Partizani complex was one of the first to be reviewed by the Property Agency, while a testimony in the prosecution of former Property Agency general director Justina Boriçi confirms that Dhurata Çela had been appointed with a recommendation from above.
The GJKKO has also accepted the request of Berisha and Malltez's lawyers to call Prime Minister Edi Rama as a witness. The latter is expected to testify in his capacity as the mayor of Tirana, who according to them signed the change of destination of the former Partizani complex's land from sports grounds to construction sites, during his time as mayor.
