'Justice for the Penguin', protest in front of SPAK; reopening of

A group of people protested this Thursday in front of SPAK, demanding the reopening of the investigation against Greek MEP Fredi Beleri, in connection with the Peshkëpi massacre, which took place on April 10, 1994 near the border with Greece.

" We are first and foremost Albanians, people who are hurt by our nation. We are people who are interested in justice being done in the country. There are also soldiers here who were in the Peshkëpi massacre in 1994, where two Albanian soldiers were killed. We demand that Fredi Beleri, because he was, because the Greek media has published it, he was a participant, he was caught with a gun, today he is an MEP in the European Parliament, we want justice."

Because it is a shame to offend our nation in the first place, the nation that has contributed to Europe, with Skanderbeg, with Mother Teresa. We should not be represented by a man like him because he unintentionally diminishes the dignity of our nation, hurts us, hurts all our compatriots and soldiers who were part of that massacre that was committed by the Greek state.

When 30 years have passed since this event, the Albanian authorities have failed to find and punish the perpetrators of the serious crime, in which the guard and the commander of the Peshkëpi unit were killed and four other soldiers were injured.

Beleri was also questioned about this event in May 2019, when the Serious Crimes Prosecution reopened the "Peshkëpi Massacre" file.

The investigations were led at the time by the Serious Crimes Prosecutor, Eugen Beci, and in his presence and in the presence of two Judicial Police officers, Beleri was questioned for three hours, and was then charged with "committing terrorist activities and activities ."
