Fifty people, residents of the municipality of Bulqiza, presented themselves to the hospital for medical assistance with symptoms of poisoning.

About 50 people have appeared today at the Bulqiza hospital to receive medical help after showing signs of poisoning.

According to the first information, it is suspected that they were poisoned by drinking water. It is suspected that sewage has mixed with drinking water. In the New City in Bulqiza, works are being done on the sewage network.

The experts are on the ground, for conducting water analyses. However, they are not cases of a neighborhood or village, but are scattered and the situation is being verified to find the cause.

Upon receiving the notification, an investigative team was set up and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, investigations have begun to clarify the circumstances and determine the cause of the poisoning, the police of Dibra informs today.

"The Bulqiza Police Station has received a notification that some citizens, residents of the Bulqiza municipality, had presented themselves to the hospital for medical assistance with symptoms of poisoning.

Upon receiving the notification, the investigative group was set up and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, the investigations began to clarify the circumstances and determine the cause of the poisoning.

At the end of the investigations, there will be more detailed information," the police announcement states.

We remind you that even a year ago, dozens of residents of the administrative unit Gjoricë in Bulqiza sought medical help, as a result of poisoning from drinking water.

Both at the Bulqiza Hospital and at the health center, there has been an influx of visits with signs of poisoning from residents of this area, mainly with vomiting and diarrhea.

From the analyzes carried out by the Local Health Care Unit in Bulqiza (NJVKSH), it was found that the water was contaminated.

In the meantime, about 50 people showed up at the hospital with signs of poisoning. The doctor of the Health Center in Gjorica said at the time that there is a tendency to decrease the number of people suspected to have been poisoned.

"It is almost the third day today that we continue with the cases. Today about 7-8 people have been, which means that it is a lower number than yesterday, at least until these moments. The symptoms are stomach and vomiting, abdominal pain, which is characteristic of what is already thought to be water poisoning. There were no serious complications, we hope the situation will improve" , said doctor Telman Veliu.

While a resident said in June 2023 that this problem has been happening for at least 4 days.

"This problem has been happening for at least 4 days. It is one of the main reasons that people should make the announcement that people continue to drink water. We have a water deposit without any kind of guard. We give money and go to hospitals is not good. I left 99% to the water. I left it there to the bride. I have a three-year-old girl with vomiting and fever. Deposit guard needed. The state must take action. We know that they throw chlorine",  he said.
