A luxury Maserati vehicle caught fire this afternoon near the exit of the Skërfica tunnel, on the Saranda-Gjirokastër road. The incident caused panic among other drivers, but fortunately no one was injured.
The Gjirokastra firefighters intervened immediately, neutralizing the flames, which had engulfed the front of the car. According to official sources, the fire was completely extinguished and the damage was only material, mainly to the engine and electrical system.
Police have launched verifications to determine the causes of this event, while no track is excluded, including a technical defect. The road where the fire occurred was blocked for several minutes, causing temporary traffic at the entrance and exit of the tunnel.
