"January 21" case in SPAK, Karamuço: There is new evidence in

Criminalistics expert, Ervin Karamuço, has commented on the latest developments on the reopened investigations by SPAK into the events of January 21, 2011, where four protesters were killed in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Karamuço emphasized that one of the most important elements being reviewed is the pressure exerted at the time on the injured journalist, Fatos Mahmutaj. According to him, the essential question being asked today is: why was pressure exerted so that Mahmutaj would not testify? He described this as one of the allegations that led to the deviation of the initial investigation.

According to him, SPAK has new data and evidence, which may have come thanks to witnesses who, after years of silence, have decided to speak out more. Important clues may have also been provided that are leading to the search for new material evidence. Karamuço confirmed that there is increased American assistance in this matter, which brings the investigation to a more advanced technical and operational level.

"The pressure that was put on the injured journalist, Fatos Mahmutaj. Why was he pressured not to testify at that time? All of these are allegations from that time, which have led to the diversion of the investigation."

Of the 11 judges who participated in the three levels of the trial regarding this case for the first two murders, 9 judges were removed from vetting or resigned due to vetting before this process began.

"There is information from SPAK that there is new evidence. There may be a witness who has said something more. There may be data or clues to seek evidence. Scientific sound expertise is being sought. There is increased American assistance on this issue ," he said on the "Real Story" show.
