Today, the presentation ceremony of the new fleet of vehicles for the penitentiary system of Albania is taking place.
During his speech, the British ambassador in Tirana, Alastair King-Smith, considered this a historical moment.
He is very proud of what Albanian justice has achieved thanks to the cooperation between the two countries, such as stopping criminal organizations or the departure of young people.
"It is a pleasure to be here today to celebrate a historic moment. I'm especially proud of what we've achieved together for justice, an agreement I wasn't sure we'd secure at first. I remember when you, Mr. Minister, confirmed your willingness to this cooperation, when you set very strong parameters for our negotiations. I am pleased that we reached a positive agreement, which is in the interest of Albanian and British citizens. This year has been fantastic in our relationship. We have now turned a huge challenge into a strong partnership. Our police and border forces are carrying out joint operations and together we are stopping the organized criminal gangs and traffickers who promote this dangerous journey. we have opened the British Chamber of Commerce to increase our investments and we have developed the North of Albania. This is essential so that young people have the opportunity not to leave. We have exchanged visits at our levels, including the Albanian prime minister and the British prime minister in London", said Ambassador King-Smith.
