The Morina border crossing has faced an increased influx of travelers and vehicles at the start of the weekend, as many citizens from Kosovo have chosen to spend their vacation days on the Albanian coast.
Vehicle lines have been growing since the early hours of the day, with the main destinations being the tourist towns along the coastline. Vacationers say that good weather conditions and affordable costs remain the main factors that attract them to Albania.
"The weather is very good and the sea is the best option to spend the weekend with the family. The prices are also reasonable," said some of the travelers.
Faster movement at the border has also been favored by simplified crossing procedures, which have been in effect since May 1. Thanks to this agreement, vehicles with Albanian and Kosovo license plates cross without detailed checks, avoiding delays and long waits.
According to the Border Police, over 26,000 Albanian and foreign citizens have entered Albania in the last 24 hours. Authorities expect the number of visitors to continue to increase throughout the weekend, especially in coastal tourist areas.
