Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj has commented on developments in the Democratic Party, pointing out what he considers to be a contradiction in Sali Berisha's positions regarding the electoral processes.
While speaking about single-candidate elections, Mahmutaj recalled Berisha's previous statements, according to which this model was unacceptable.
"Berisha has not spoken once about elections with one candidate, he has spoken several times. A few months ago he said that it is absurd and unacceptable and, according to him, only the communists had held elections with one candidate," said Mahmutaj.
He added that similar statements were made during the local elections boycotted by the Democrats, when Berisha had described them as unacceptable.
In his analysis, Mahmutaj also focused on the figure of Ervin Salianj, who has recently articulated critical positions towards the current leadership of the party.
"Salianji was not a worthy candidate to take the party from Berisha's hands. He has been around for almost a year and a half and has not managed to bring together 100 Democrats ," the journalist said.
According to Mahmutaj, despite public engagement and protests, Salianji has failed to create a sufficient movement to challenge Berisha's influence within the Democratic Party.
"Salianji protests, but remains in Berisha's shadow," the journalist declared.
