The investigation by SPAK into the funds of the Re-establishment Assembly, which preceded Sali Berisha's return to the Democratic Party, began after a complaint made by Gazmend Bardhi at the end of 2021 to the Special Prosecution Office.
In this complaint, the former secretary general of the DP sued Belind Këlliçi, Albana Vokshi and Enno Bozdo Spaho as organizers of the Assembly. A day earlier, Belind Këlliçi was questioned at SPAK about the origin of the money and invoices, while today the member of the presidency, Indrit Hoxha, was summoned.
Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj, invited to "Ora e Fundit", said that he sees this clash as "karma" within the Democratic Party's dome.
"I see this as 'karma' within the DP or within the DP's dome. These were the people who four years ago were beaten with sticks, forcing the other party to barricade the doors. Gaz Bardhi was looking at the path of the lawsuit in SPAK, thinking about his career. I am of the opinion that he has become remorseful for his accusations," he said.
He also commented on Berisha's meeting in Lezha, for which he said that his successor at the head of the DP will be another figure, who will be elected by the Democrats and this name will be outside his family.
Journalist Mahmutaj claimed that the DP, under the leadership of Sali Berisha, has suffered a major contraction, ending up as a third-rate party.
"Berisha himself has realized that his family is super exhausted from leading the DP. The time has come for him to elect the leader himself, not the legacy of the Berisha family. Until now, Berisha had done the right thing by leaving his daughter or son at the head of the DP. From Berisha's holding the DP hostage, this party has only shrunk. It has lost and has gone down and down in every election and has been reduced to a second or third-rate party, from a first-rate party that it was in the past. This party definitely needs to elect a good character, one who is young and unexhausted," he said.
The journalist further stated that Sali Berisha is deeply involved in crime. He mentioned some of the events for which, according to him, the former Prime Minister of the country himself has a hand.
"Berisha is deeply involved in crime. Berisha has ordered murders and decrees himself. We have the case of the Haklajs. He called for 'dead or alive, bring Fatmir Haklaj to Tirana'. He ordered the murder and disappearance of Remzi Hoxha. He trapped Azem Hajdari. He projects his crimes onto others," Mahmutaj stressed.
He emphasized that Lulzim Basha "sold out" Sali Berisha for the state assassination of January 21, where four innocent protesters were executed under the Prime Minister's Office.
"Basha followed Sali Berisha's orders. Lulzim Basha sold Sali Berisha out on January 21," he said.
