Today, in Mediu's trial, the famous fax that Aldo Bumçi sent to Shkëlzen Berisha was mentioned once again.
The Special Prosecution Office has reopened "old wounds" regarding Gerdec. Today, the next hearing against Fatmir Mediu was held, while prosecutor Arben Kraja presented as evidence a fax, in which Shkelzen Berisha, the son of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, also appears.
It is about a fax, which has often stirred up the media; a fax seized from the Ministry of Defense, without a number and without a date, which bears the note " for Mr. Shkëlzen Berisha ". Prosecutor Arben Kraja stated that the note is part of the original content of the document coming from the Ministry of Justice and not a later addition.
According to SPAK, the fax has the subject “opinion on a draft decision” on the procedures for handling weapons, equipment and equipment of the Armed Forces that have been removed from use. The document was registered at the Ministry of Defense in March 2007. The prosecution stressed that the correspondence shows agreement in principle from the Ministry of Justice, while the address to Shkëlzen Berisha raises the issue to a level of influence outside the formal decision-making circles.

The former secretary of former Minister of Justice, Aldo Bumçi, Anjola Agolli, in her testimony given to prosecutors directly implicated Bumçi as a soldier of Shkëlzen Berisha in the dismantling of weapons in Gërdec.
Agolli admitted that she sent the fax with the note “ For Shkëlzen Berisha… ” to a fax number of the Ministry of Defense, and recalled that “ Shkëlzen Berisha came to the office and met with the minister before sending the fax… ” Agolli explained the procedure of how she recorded the fax and how it was sent to the Ministry of Defense.
Both Bumçi and Berisha have spoken publicly about the fax and have chosen the language of denial. The former Minister of Justice, after leaving SPAK, claimed that this letter was forged, raising suspicions among the opposition at the time.
But it is a fact that former Minister of Justice, Aldo Bumçi, sent a fax to Gërdec at the address of the Ministry of Defense, with an inscription for Shkëlzen Berisha. It is not yet known where Aldo Bumçi based this decision, namely to send official letters to the children of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
But Bumçi did not report to Shkëlzeni only via fax, but also directly. The meetings are confirmed by a cable that the American embassy in Tirana sent to the American State Department.
“ In a testimony, the secretary of the Minister of Justice, Aldo Bumçi, told of at least two meetings between Bumçi and Shkëlzen in 2007. And when asked about a letter that Bumçi sent to Mediu for approval of the draft law that would pave the way for the dismantling in Gërdec, she confirmed that Bumçi had written on the cover 'For Shkëlzen Berisha ',” the cable states. The US Embassy reported to DASH that everyone reported to Shkëlzen, including Mediu himself.
It should be noted that SPAK has opened a separate file for Gërdec and is investigating the trafficking of cartridges and Shkëlzen Berisha is at the center. So far, there has been no development. /Pamphlet
