GJKKO left him in prison, lawyer Sefa reveals what will happen to former

The Special Court left in prison the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, arrested by order of SPAK for the CEZ-DIA affair and lobbying in the USA.

Meta will stay in one of the detention cells in '313; in Tirana, while lawyer Indrit Sefa also asked what will happen next with the former president.

Sefa says that Meta's defense has 5 days to appeal to the GJKKO Appeal against the security measure of arrest and imprisonment.

"The charges are serious charges, passive corruption 4-12 years, money laundering up to 15 years in prison. These punishments are not added mathematically, it is the Court that, if it punishes, will come up with a single punishment by combining the punishments of different crimes. They usually do not exceed the maximum penalty of one of the crimes," said Sefa.

Lawyer Sefa also explained when the investigations of the file for the Meta-Kryemadhi couple can be closed.

"SPAK has a deadline of 1 year, within 1 year it must close the investigations, communicate the charges and send the case for the same investigation as the case of Berisha and Malltez who respected the deadline", continued Sefa.

Sefa also comments on the Berisha case, stressing that the property investigation for the family continues in SPAK.

" The practice followed by SPAK also follows other ways of conducting investigations with factions for other special criminal offenses that it thinks have not yet been investigated during this phase and will be investigated in the next phase. It is a new proceeding, for a new criminal offense, it does not join the Partizan i file", said Sefa.

In a 5-hour session amid debates and threats to justice, the Special Court confirmed the prison sentence for Ilir Meta, and ordered Monika Kryemadhi to appear once a month on charges from SPAK of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets. Both of them strongly attacked justice for a trial without evidence by political order.

Also, the GJKKO changed the measure from house arrest to mandatory appearance for Piro Xixho under the charge of passive corruption and left in force the measure of mandatory appearance for Ema Çoku under the charge of money laundering.
