The Special Court overruled the position of Sali Berisha's lawyers, who stated that they requested the dismissal of judge Irena Gjoka from the case. Berisha was supposed to be familiar with the security measure "obligation to appear" given to him today, but the session was postponed until tomorrow.
Lawyer Genc Gjokutaj said that they filed a criminal lawsuit against the judge for abuse of office and also requested her dismissal from the case.
" We filed a complaint with the SPAK for the criminal offense of abuse of office and requested its exclusion from the consideration of the case. The trial has been interrupted to consider this request because you know that after the request for exclusion the judges can no longer continue the trial session and we are waiting for the decision of the review of the request for its exclusion. We don't come here to be given 2-3 hours to read 20 thousand pages. We are for a regular process, for an effective defense, so we will wait for the court's decision and then the recognition process, but we will be in touch" , said Gjokutaj.
But the Special Court states that there is no official request for the dismissal of the judge.
" They have not submitted a request for exemption to the secretary, but they have verbally submitted that they will submit a request for exemption. Until these moments, such a request has not yet been registered ", said the press office at GJKKO.
