The microbiologist of the local Health Care unit in the city of Gramsh, Dafina Shtylla, has stated that there are 5 confirmed cases of salmonella among the suspected cases of poisoning in public kindergarten no. 1 in Gramsh.
The doctor said that the children's condition is currently under control. According to her, approximately 80 tests have been conducted at the Institute of Public Health, while on Monday, specific tests are expected to be performed by a team of microbiologists to continue the epidemiological investigation according to the public health protocol.
On the other hand, the doctor has appealed to parents not to treat their children at home, but to seek specialized help at the hospital for any aggravated situation.
"It is not an easy situation but we will cope with it. Salmonella is difficult to examine in tests, but we have received a response from the referral laboratory at the IHP that there are 5 cases of salmonella so far. This bacterial disease is usually acquired by mouth and is therefore best known as the "unwashed hands disease", the doctor told News24.
