Poisoning of tourists in Vlora, according to the analysis of ISHP: Cause of food

The Institute of Public Health has revealed the results of the analysis of food samples taken from the ship on which the Polish youth went to Sazan, after they ended up in the Vlora hospital with signs of poisoning, on the evening of August 25.

ISHP informs that on the basis of virology analysis, it has been established that Polish tourists in Vlora, three days ago, were poisoned by norovirus, which spreads due to lack of hygiene, contamination of food and water.

Norovirus, otherwise known as the summer or stomach flu, has gastro-intestinal symptoms.

Meanwhile, it is expected to verify whether the food that was consumed on the ship was cooked in a kitchen inside the ship or was taken from a restaurant.

From the control carried out by the National Food Agency, it was found that the ship had opened a kitchen outside the rules, as it had not declared this service in the NRC. For this violation, the tourist ship "Black Pearl" was fined 600 thousand lek.
