An investigation launched by the Elbasan prosecutor's office into vote buying has led to the search of the apartment and car of the deputy mayor of Belsh.
It is learned that a criminal investigation has been opened against Maringlen Bali and other officials in Belsh for electoral corruption, leading to the need for the Elbasan prosecutor's office to intervene in the elections.
Sources said that during the search, officers found lists of names of residents who are registered to vote in the 2025 Parliamentary Elections.
This investigation is just one of several files of the Elbasan prosecutor's office, which a few days ago opened another file for officials of the Peqin and Elbasan municipalities, after they distributed financial rewards to their employees. Meanwhile, controls have also been carried out by SPAK in the Shkodra area.
In total, 54 proceedings related to the elections have been registered in the district prosecutor's offices.
Of these, the police have submitted 27 cases, SPAK 9, political entities 7 cases, 2 were reported by citizens and 9 others were initiated by the prosecutors themselves. Tirana holds the first place in terms of the number of proceedings with 14 such cases, followed by Dibra with 9, and then Elbasan, Lezha and Fier with 5 cases.
