After nearly 7 hours, the mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj has left the premises of SPAK. He went to the prosecutor's office at around 9:00 a.m., although he was called at 10:00 a.m., to talk about the ongoing investigations into the Tirana incinerator.
In a statement to the media, Veliaj said that the institutions of justice should be supported, as he said that he has exhausted all his arguments regarding the incinerator. Then he did not answer the journalists' questions, he seems to have said that there are issues that are investigative secrets.
" It has increased my conviction that a full investigation is being conducted in Albania. The only thing we can do is strengthen the institutions. I was here as a colleague, I had been looking for a meeting for some time. Then a total exhaustion of the incinerator issue. Of course, the two investigative colleagues have asked me not to separate the journalists for ethical issues and investigative secrecy. It will be part of the clarification of my testimony. I feel more relieved that I had the opportunity to clarify my speech ", said Veliaj.
Veliaj was accompanied by the director of PR, Aurel Borici and by Alban Dokushi, the legal director. During an interview on Saturday, he warned that he will appear at the SPAK and submit all the information related to the issue of the Tirana incinerator.
" Mr. Dumani was right when he said that the institutions should be more pro-active. I have taken this proposal seriously and I want not only to continue cooperation, but I want to provide more information, also to clarify the issue of incinerators. I I have prepared the files, the whole chronology, also how we, as one of the 5 (initially) and now 6 municipalities, are customers of the incinerator, but also where is the difference between the World Bank letter and what is an unsolicited offer , and how some characters try to confuse the two, but it's unmistakable, it's very clear ," he said.
